Enver Hoxha

Enver Hoxha is not a name which many people outside of Albania recognize. There is not a section devoted to him in history textbooks, nor are there many academic circles where his politics are debated. He was a man who wanted to save a starving people from extinction in a tumultuous post World War II Europe and did so through a strict adherence to Marxism-Leninism. He led a people without hope to a better future, and that is his legacy.

Enver Hoxha was the leader of Albania for over four decades, but isolationism and the corrupt punishment of dissenters caused many to view Albania as a nation that was greatly flawed under Hoxha's policies. Enver Hoxha is a controversial figure, and this makes him worthy of attention when one is discussing European politics. His words are inspiring, and his convictions are admirable.
